Following a thrilling match, decided on penalties, the trophy was presented to Milan by David Dunn of Toshiba Air Conditioning (a division of Toshiba Carrier UK Limited), and Darrel Birkett of distributor Cool Designs Ltd, sponsors of the event. “It was a once-in-a-lifetime occasion and the atmosphere was phenomenal,” says David Dunn. “It’s a rare thing to have such a collection of footballing greats on the same pitch at the same time, and the crowd appreciated every moment.”
He added: “Everyone was so swept away in the atmosphere, the scoreline hardly mattered!”. The proceeds from the match were donated to the Newcastle United Foundation, Great North Children’s Hospital and the Sir Bobby Robson Foundation.
