Toshiba wins National ACR Award

A ground-breaking refrigerant detection and containment system developed by the Toshiba team at Toshiba Carrier UK Ltd has won a major national award.
The company’s pioneering approach won the Air Conditioning Product of the Year Award in the National ACR Awards 2012, held at the Bloomsbury Big Top in London, on 22 November.
For the first time, the system offers complete protection and assurance for air conditioning end users, building occupiers and the environment.
It is considered so effective that buildings equipped with the new Toshiba system qualify for additional BREEAM points, significantly boosting their environmental credentials.

The judges said Toshiba’s ground-breaking solution “takes state-of-the-art to a new level, and enables a new level of confidence among equipment users and the public.”
They added: “The result of the company’s research and development programme is a complete family of three refrigerant leak detection systems. It offers a comprehensive solution to the challenge of refrigerant containment.”
The technologies, which constantly monitor and manage refrigerant content within air conditioning systems, include the first system to offer full automatic pump down of refrigerant in the event of a major leak, delivering the ultimate fail-safe condition.
David Dunn, commercial director of Toshiba Air Conditioning, said: “I am delighted to accept the award on behalf of the Toshiba team. It reflects a lot of hard work and creativity, that is now being harnessed to safeguard the environment and provide total assurance for end users.”

The award-winning Toshiba leak containment systems are now being rolled out by a number of major end users, including a national hotel chain which is equipping its premises across the UK.
