Digital Inverter vs Super Digital Inverter: What’s the Difference?

When looking at Toshiba Light Commercial air conditioning, you'll often come across two names: Digital Inverter (DI) and Super Digital Inverter (SDI). Both are designed for light commercial applications, but they offer different levels of performance and flexibility.

What is Digital Inverter?
Digital Inverter
is Toshiba's standard RAV light commercial range, providing heating and cooling across a wide variety of applications. The current DI range can be paired with different indoor unit styles, including high-wall, cassette, ceiling, ducted and floor-standing units, giving installers flexibility when designing a system around a commercial space. Single, Twin, Triple and Quad configurations are also available across the current DI portfolio.

What is Super Digital Inverter?
Super Digital Inverter
is Toshiba's higher-tier RAV solution. It combines inverter control with Toshiba Twin Rotary compressor technology and is intended for applications where enhanced seasonal performance, operating range or installation flexibility may be required. The latest Super Digital Inverter 3 Series offers up to nine outdoor-unit options and a broad choice of compatible indoor units, with up to 57 combinations documented in Toshiba's product overview.

Which one should you choose?
There's no single answer that's right for every project. Digital Inverter can provide a flexible solution for many everyday light commercial applications.
Super Digital Inverter may be considered where a project calls for additional performance or system flexibility.

The right choice will depend on factors such as:

  • Required heating and cooling capacity
  • Building layout
  • Indoor unit type
  • Operating conditions
  • Pipework and installation requirements

A suitably qualified Toshiba partner can assess the project and recommend the most appropriate solution.
