Light Commercial

What Is Light Commercial Air Conditioning?

Light commercial air conditioning sits between residential systems and larger solutions such as VRF. It's designed for smaller commercial spaces where reliable heating and cooling is needed without the scale or complexity of a large multi-zone system.

Where is light commercial air conditioning used?

Light commercial systems can suit a wide variety of spaces, including:

  • Shops and retail spaces
  • Offices
  • Restaurants and cafés
  • Classrooms
  • Hotels and hospitality areas
  • Healthcare environments
  • Refurbishment projects

Toshiba's current light commercial materials identify applications including shops, retail businesses, offices, hotels, healthcare and refurbishment projects.

What options are available?
Different buildings need different types of indoor units.
Toshiba's light commercial RAV range offers options including high-wall, cassette, ducted, ceiling and floor-standing units, allowing the equipment to be selected around the layout and use of the space. For larger or irregular spaces, Toshiba also offers Twin, Triple and Quad configurations, where multiple indoor units can be connected as part of a light commercial system.

What are DI and SDI?
You'll often see two names within Toshiba's light commercial range:
Digital Inverter (DI) provides a flexible solution across a broad range of light commercial applications.
Super Digital Inverter (SDI) is Toshiba's higher-tier light commercial range, designed for applications requiring enhanced performance and additional system flexibility. The latest DI and SDI Series 3 systems also offer a broad choice of compatible indoor units and configurations.

Is light commercial right for your project?
The right solution will depend on the size and layout of the space, heating and cooling requirements, how the building is used, and installation constraints. A suitably qualified Toshiba partner can help assess your requirements and recommend an appropriate system and indoor-unit configuration.
